I look forward to possible being back in the field , and again i will keep you all posted , and i give you my word to be a loud no bs 1SGT (in the field). As i have always been, so clean those riffles and get your head right because here i come. and remember above all else we are a team. Younger , older it dont matter we need to remeber we are a team we need to stick togather not be apart. where one goes we go. If you have a problem we have a problem. This is how we will survive as a group and band of brothers . Just some words to think on as the season progresses and our unit grows. Some one said it better along time ago, United we stand divided we fall.

We take the field in 8 days1st Sergeant, I am pleased to here that the affairs of your mercantile business have eased a bit even though this will likely mean leaner times for you. Officers need the firm but gentle hand of guidance from NCOs.
Men of the 35th, although you are but farmers and sons of farmers, we have received high praise from many Officers in the Army. These compliments should not cause you to think we shall rest on our laurels.
The enemy remains on Southern soil. We must prepare ourselves for each battle and for our own reputation but in recognition of those many soldiers that have gone before us.
We serve their memory not our own.
